Christian charity iPhone and iPad app brings the bible to you
Jun 10
Christian charity Scripture Union and Baigent Digital have just launched a cutting-edge version of their WordLive site - www.wordlive.org - in the form of an app which is compatible with both the iPad and iPhone.
The WordLive app enables individuals to receive daily bible quotes and prayers on their iPhone or iPad. They can easily read, review, send on and connect to the rest of the Bible excerpt whilst on the move. This new app builds on the success of the WordLive, the multi-media bible-reading site, which established a user base of around 25,000 since its launch in 2008, enabling users to access word, sound, image and video content seamlessly each day, through a choice of web, email, RSS and podcast channels.
With Apple’s launch of the iPad this January, it was clear that an opportunity had arrived for WordLive to take the next step forward in reaching their thousands of supporters. James Burden, Associate Director for publishing at Scripture Union said “We’d been reviewing the possibility of creating an iPhone-specific version of the WordLive experience and with the arrival of the iPad, the match between the word and multimedia was perfect for a new application.”
“We’ve seen a rapidly growing group accessing WordLive throughout the day on portable devices and smart phones” says Martin Campbell, MD of Baigent Digital. “It’s clear that this kind of device is key to the future of digital publishing and their use is sure to become even more widespread.”
The application is now on sale in the Apple store.
