Digital strategy

How can you think clearly about what it is you're trying to achieve and turn your aspirations into reality?

Our process starts with all your ideas and works with you to determine what is important; what outcomes you want and where your priorities lie. We use various techniques from card-sorting to visualisation to develop your organisation's digital strategy. We'll encourage you to undertake user research to determine what your audiences want from your site. We'll then translate this into practical items such as projects and resourcing.

The thing we spend the most time on is understanding why you're doing things in the way you are. A good strategy can be as much about stopping projects as starting new ones. We will ask difficult questions even if the outcome is that your planned web project with us is scrapped because we want to make sure you achieve your full online potential.

What makes us different is we get this strategy connected with your day to day decisions to make it happen. We work with you to put together a digital framework to enable you to work at two levels of strategy and project and ensure your team take decisions which are going to contribute to where you want to go. This framework usually includes a digital strategy group, connecting your digital manager with your directors. This is proving hugely successful in unlocking digital and providing leadership and direction to the project team who implement projects that achieve the strategy. This approach has proved invaluable for many of our clients, particularly Scripture Union, UNICEF and Hamilton Trust.

"Digital presents many challenges for charities. Timing is one - when do you seriously start investing in digital? With less preditable ROI, it requires some courage, but we're seeing charities investing in digital starting to reap rewards. Second is resourcing, many charities need to employ different expertise - higher calibre, higher paid people to run campaigns. You need people who can blaze the trail and you need to get agencies that are prepared to do that. Most organisations that are doing it successfully are using a mix of very strong internal people and good agencies that can see beyond last year's activities."
Martin Campbell, MD, Baigent Digital

We're passionate about enabling charities to get the most from digital.

So we've established www.charitydigitalstrategy.org as a key resource for charity professionals grappling with the challenge of digital. Take a look, have your say and let us know what you think.

Baigent Digital are so much more than a web agency – they are digital strategists. Developing and implementing a focused and responsive digital strategy is at the heart of how we deliver product and create and maintain relationships with our customers and supporters. Baigent are instrumental in our ongoing development of that digital strategy and are highly valued partners. They are stimulating, provocative, knowledgeable and have the unusual capacity to work with us in a genuinely strategic manner.

We help you challenge the thinking that says 'we couldn't do that' or 'the senior people don't understand this'. I've been effective at getting web teams to engage with their senior management to educate senior management what digital can do. If you connect those people up within an organisation, change happens.
