Cancer Research UK
Relay For Life
OVERVIEW
Relay For Life is a unique celebration of life and hope, organised by volunteer committees. Months of fundraising culminates in a fantastic family and team event, which unites communities to help beat cancer
The Challenge
- Cancer Research UK wanted to provide a better experience for members of the public taking part in Relay For Life and to take a more integrated approach to event fundraising in order to increase awareness and income
The Solution
- Convio TeamRaiser® was chosen to deliver a fully branded online platform for Relay For Life that handles everything they need in one place: fundraising registration, online donations, real-time fundraising reporting, event management, email capability and social media integration
- Step-by-step prompts help team captains and event participants raise money, involve others and share what they’re doing with other volunteers
- Participants can send and track emails to their contacts, share pictures and messages via social networks and track their progress against team and individual targets
- Provides a real-time picture of how all events are doing day by day, better access to donor data
- Able to deal with the complex accounting and logistical challenges of an event spanning a twelve month period.
- As TeamRaiser is an entirely cloud-based service, it also prevents the need to invest in any additional IT or server support
The Results
- TeamRaiser has given Relay for Life a cost efficient way to make the most of online channels and build more valuable long term relationships with supporters
- American Cancer Society, who was inspired to develop the Relay For Life events in the 1980s, has been using TeamRaiser nationally since 2005, during which time it has increased online revenue by 48%
